MY TENPIN BOWLING PAGE

This all started with posting of my own stats. I then decided to try to get all Country Cup results. The site has since expanded to include Senior Shield, Colac Masters, Ramblers Men's League and more recently Colac Cup results.

VICTORIAN COUNTRY CUP

First contested in 1981 at Warrnambool, when played over one round. Eight associations competed for a perpetual cup for the overall winners. The eight original associations were Albury / Wodonga, Ballarat, Bendigo, Colac, Geelong, Latrobe Valley, Shepparton and Warrnambool.

Sale joined in 1983 and Mildura in 1985. No more new teams until 2000 when Oven's & Murray joined. Two new teams in 2001 - Sale & District and Bairnsdale. (Bairnsdale only bowled until 2003)

Back to ten teams from 2009 with the closure of Sale bowl.

Three perfect "300's"  have been bowled in the 30 years the event has been held. The first, in 2000, by Jason Motta from Latrobe Valley the second, in 2009, by Josh Alvisse from Geelong and the third by Kevin Wilkins from Shepparton in 2010.

Colac have won the Overall trophy three (3) times and the Men's six (6) times. Colac women have not yet won their division.

Hall of Fame inductions commenced in 2011. There are two categories - Hall of Fame and Legends.

Country Cup Photos are mostly Colac (If you have any you would like me to add please contact me)

SENIOR SHIELD

Senior Shield was started in 1994 and is for bowlers aged 45 and over. It is a scratch team’s event for all Victorian Country Tenpin Bowling Associations (VCTBA). There are 4 bowlers per team bowling head to head for four (4) points plus two (2) points for the pinfall - total of six (6) points per game.

The event is contested over one full round over two days in November. In all there are three divisions - an Overall division plus a Men's division and a Women's division

The inaugural event was held in Ballarat and was contested by eight of the country associations.  The original associations that competed were Ballarat, Bendigo , Colac, Geelong , Latrobe Valley , Sale , Shepparton and Mildura. (Albury/Wodonga and Warrnambool did not field teams in the inaugural event). Ballarat won the Overall and the Women's while Colac won the Men.

In the Overall division, Geelong (5) and Colac (4) lead for most wins. In the Men’s division Geelong and Colac have dominated with eight and seven wins respectively. In the Women’s division Warrnambool have the most wins with seven (including five of the last six).

COLAC CUP (Very minimal information)

First held in 1980 and was won by a local - David Whitham. It was contested for the next 12 years by bowlers in the now defunct A.T.B.A with various formats (singles and doubles). It was relocated in 1993 to Warrnambool and became the Warrnambool Cup until 2007. Returned to Colac in 2009.
